Try a Threesome, or even a Foursome!
Working Out can be tiring. Not just the physical part, but the mental as well. All that plodding a long on the treadmill, alone. The best thing you can do is work out in a group situation. Not only will you get a better workout, you will enjoy it more too.
When I first started looking for a Personal Trainer, I had the mind-set that one-on-one training would be the best. No one sharing time with me, no one else for the trainer to focus on. Every dime I spent would be spent well with out anyone stealing time from my trainer. But as I soon learned after trying out my OC Personal Trainer, the group workouts are the best! There are other people there to run through circuit training with, keeping you motivated, making you laugh, and all of a sudden the hour is over!
I went to the gym this morning and nobody else showed up. Just me. Although I got a killer workout, I missed my gym friends. I am friends with my trainer now, we have been working together for almost 2 years now, so we chatted while he put me through a Stairclimber routine (not my favorite) and sets of Woodchoppers (my favorite). So, it was fun anyway, but it's great to have the other girls there to do crunches with.
Not only inside the gym, but outside as well. I have forged friendships with many of the people I work out with. One is now a pretty good friend and will be joining me on my bachelorette party in Vegas. We hit brunch together sometimes, do dinner, we went out together for Halloween. Another is taking Cake Baking classes and we are working on the details for her to make my wedding cake. Her boyfriend that works out with us got my fiancee's info and used him for some computer work. A few of us girls are talking about hitting the tennis courts on the weekend together some time soon. We all know what is going on with eachother and our trainer. I gave my trainer a referral for a jeweler in LA to get an engagement ring for his fiancee. It's a great group. We try to schedule workouts together, because it is more fun when we're all there.
Outside the realm of training with the trainer, it's best to get a group as well. For one, if you are going to go running outside, think safety in numbers. I'd never go running alone at night. Also, I have someone to talk to! Hitting tennis balls against a wall is boring…get a partner and lob a few back and forth. Kick it old school and get a soccer ball. Have a little match at the elementary school on the weekend. Much more fun than kicking the ball against the garage door.
Tell your friends how much you love the comraderie at the gym, how you've made new friends with similar goals. Give them your trainer's phone number and get them to join your group!
