How to Look Like a Sexy “Dancing Star”
It is hard to avoid the media frenzy that hovers around the ever popular show in which “celebrities” learn to dance like professional ballroom dancers. I must admit, I was a fan from the start. I didn’t even like the idea of the show and even at that point had had enough of reality TV but after the first time I saw it I was hooked. And I was not the only one. I believe that so many of us are glued to the series for more reasons than just for the love dancing. These volunteer stars show us the result of hours of hard work and pure determination. They show us it is possible to excel in something that you didn’t even know the first thing about only months ago. They show us that WE CAN BE EXACTLY WHAT WE WANT TO BE.
Part of the mystique for me when watching the show is the amazing bodily transformation. It is not uncommon for the participants to lose 20-30 pounds in only a few months. They go from new mom to “who’s your mommy” in 10 weeks, their abs defined and their bums shrinking like nothing we have ever seen. Beautiful gams, slender arms, defined backs. What makes us “regular” people different than theses “stars”? (Besides the fact that we can’t take 10 weeks off to dance 14 hours a day?) NOTHING. We can be exactly what we want to be.
So you want to be more like a person who has the body of a professional dancer. Well, you have to start somewhere. So how about here.
Well, our Personal Trainer Seal Beach urges you to:
1. Get a trainer. You probably noticed I didn’t just say ‘join the gym’ or ‘exercise’ and that is because I truly believe for me, the turning point in my life was when I found a personal trainer. I had belonged to gyms before and had even exercised and been involved in sports teams. But it had been years since I was truly dedicated to fitness and I needed someone to hold me accountable and to push me forward challenge me and share in my success. It has been almost 2 years since I dedicated myself to my trainer and my fitness and I have never looked back. I feel like I am part of a team and I am on the “inside”. I know a secret that not everyone else knows. I look forward to seeing my fellow sufferers, watching their triumphs as they watch mine.
So get moving-do whatever it takes. I know some people don’t have the money to hire a trainer or join the gym. Do what you can but do it now. Time is a’wasting.
And our Personal Trainer Santa Ana says:
2. Set a healthy schedule. The healthy life is not made up of one thing but many small everyday decisions that make up a whole. Each step in the right direction is a collective step toward the new life that you want to lead. All of your life habits are connected and each need to be at least slightly tweaked to make you new goal plausible. ESE- pronounced ‘easy’ will help you remember the 3 factors that must be set in your schedule and remain as consistent as possible to help you maintain your new healthy lifestyle.
Eating-The things that you eat, the time that you eat and with what consistency are all factors that must be considered in organizing your new schedule. Decide that changing your eating habits is a lifestyle choice not a diet. It has been shown that eating smaller meals 6-8 times per day is the most effective for weight loss and helps you to feel more satisfied throughout the day leaving less room for error. It has also been proven that you should attempt to eat your last meal between 4-6 hours before you go to bed. Too many calories too close to bedtime can lead to weight gain. As a rule of thumb, avoid empty calories, sugar and caffeine and stick to whole grains, leafy veggies and colorful fruits, and lean proteins in smaller portions. Organic preferred if possible.
Sleeping-Do it and do it well. How you sleep, the time that you sleep and with what consistency are all factors that must be considered in organizing your new schedule. The quality of your sleep is just as important as how long you sleep and that can be affected by things that seem small-like the light from your clock radio. Your body can get the most out of sleep when it can depend on getting a certain number of hours at the same time every night. Go to bed at a decent hour and try to keep it as consistent as possible. This allows us the rest we need to repair and rebuild our bodies and rejuvenates us so we can get to the next all-important factor-exercise.
Exercise- How you exercise, the time that you exercise and with what consistency are all factors that must be considered in organizing your new schedule. Some people find their schedule works best if they go to bed early and get up early to work out before going to their job while other have more to give to a work out after a long work day-move out some of the aggression that had a chance to build up. Find what works for you and try to keep the same schedule every week. Let your trainer know what your physical goals are so he/she can tailor your time at the gym specifically for you. Most importantly, just keep going and don’t stop. That sounds obvious and silly, but that is the most important factor in achieving your weight-loss goals when it comes to the gym. GO. Ad it is easier said than done.
Our Personal Trainer Westwood argues:
3. Cut out excessive beverages-drink water. It is too easy to consume hundreds of calories in a few minutes by drinking them (without even paying any mind!). Certain coffee drink and many soft drinks and juices are loaded with sugar and calories. Drink water. Drink water. Drink water. If it is too difficult for you to quit drinking whatever it is you drink cold turkey, then begin by watering down your existing beverage and keep adding water over time until you are drinking just water.
And the Personal Trainer North Hollywood insists:
4. Dress your body now. Do not put off feeling sexy now just because you haven’t hit your goal weight yet. You always hear people say that they don’t want to buy any new clothes until they lose 40 pounds. If you buy a few now, dressing the body you have now, instead of wearing the same old sweatpants or black frumpy pants, it will help you to realize how great you are already looking and cause you to strive even harder to lose the rest of the weight. So don’t put everything off… feeling better now about how you look will help you strive to look better later. Don’t beat yourself up along the way. Be proud that you are moving in the direction of your goal and that you even have one!
While Personal Trainer Century City hammers in the point that you must embrace…
5. Positive thinking and affirmations. The only thing stopping you from being who or what you want to be is you. Decide what you want and believe it is possible. Put yourself in that moment of when you are living that dream and feel like it is now. Feel the feeling of the moment of your dream. Decide on an affirmation that you can repeat to yourself many times throughout the day. Something like, “I am a ____________________ woman/man who is worthy of _________________.” With your new habits in place and a positive attitude, nothing can stop you from being the “star” that you always knew you were.
