Finding The Time For Training

When people start making excuses for not working out, the one they usually seem to whip out first is "I don't have the time." This is actually a pretty smart strategy, because it makes them seem like they really want to exercise, but it’s impossible for reasons beyond their control, even if getting fit isn't too high on their priority list in reality.

Lots of people lead busy lives. Even lots of professional personal trainers had regular 9-5 office jobs before they found their fitness calling and decided to take charge of their own health. You have to find your own time to work out.

The best way to make sure you find to time to get fit is by having a scheduled time to work out every week. Thinking you will get to gym just "when you can" decreases the chances you will ever go. Make it a part of schedule just like waking up and eating dinner are part your schedule. After a while, it will be hard to know how you lived without regular personal training.

At the same, you must recognize that sometimes other things might have to take priority over your workout time, so you should have some flexibility. Does your kid have a recital that you have to attend? No problem, just make sure you get in your workout later that evening, or some other time during the week. Don't let little interruptions in your workout schedule frustrate you.

If you are like most people, you spend a couple hours every week watching television or movies in your home. Get a treadmill, stair stepper, or elliptical to put in front of the television to make TV time more productive. Doing some light cardio through even a part of that time will help you make progress towards your fitness goals.

The fact of the matter is, most people decide for themselves just how successful their fitness plans will be before they even touch weights. It's as much about thinking positively as it is eating right and exercising smart. If you decide for yourself that you really want it, you will be surprised at just how much time is available.
